For example, at the 2022 Chess Olympiad, which was held in Moscow, the Egyptian team placed 16th, the best in its history, and Algeria placed 28th, the best for an Arab country. Furthermore, the Zambian team surprised the world by defeating the favorite Russia in the first round. At the 2023 World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship, which was held in Dubai, Egyptian grandmaster Ahmed Adly placed 10th, the best for an African player, and Moroccan grandmaster Mohamed-Mehdi Aithmidou placed 18th, the best from an Arab player. 

These data and achievements show that chess in Africa is booming, and that it has a great future ahead. The continent has a large reserve of talent, which needs more opportunities and resources to develop.
